ILARIA BERARDI

I was born in a small village in the countryside of Italy in 1987 and after numerous moving and experiences in my home country, in 2008 I moved to Dublin with my now-husband, where I picked up my brushes after a long time and practiced the skill of pencil-portraits for the first time.

At that point I was sharing my work on Deviant Art under the pseudonym of Rocky Horror Paintings. But for me everything really changed in 2016 when we moved to Wexford.

Best decision ever.

Here, I not only I re -discovered the sense of community, that so much reminds me of my hometown in the 1990s, but I also found a bit of myself that I thought I had not. In 2017 my father passed away, and in that moment I felt I owed him something; we had a some-what difficult relationship but from him I have inherited the passion for music, travelling, art and photography, so I thought that the most appreciated tribute would have been to become an artist and so I did.

I started by gaining my PLC in Art, Craft and Design (2019) in Selskar College in Wexford Town, followed by four years of college at SETU, Wexford Campus (former ITCarlow, ) where I gain my Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Art (2023).
